Merlin Hotel Prague
Merlin Hotel Prague Reviews
cheap , good location in Prague Apr 13, 2009
I stayed in the Merlin hotel for one night while i was visiting in Prague.
I must say for a 2* and a cheap price i didn't expect very much, as soon as i arrived i went into the reception which was operated by one girl, she was very nice, didn't speak very much English but enough to get by, in the reception there were a selection of snacks and drinks to by to take to your room as there was no mini bar or anything in the rooms. To get to our rooms we walked out of the reception (out of the building) round into the next house which was where all the rooms were. There was a very small lift we got in (quite noisy) and it took us up to the top floor where we had one of the largest rooms in the hotel. It was really nice as you went though two doors to a landing area and then went through to your room, if felt as if we had our own private area. The room was a large size, lacked furniture (didnt need any though) Looked lovely actually as there were low beams in the room had no T.V however who wants to watch tele when your in Prague?? The breakfast in the morning was in a dinning room which was kinda weird as it was themed in 16th/17th century, it was basic i assume typically czech but was edible. Location wasn't bad if you dont mind walking - it is a nice walk along the river, if not then there are buses and trams you can get to take you to the centre. i would recommend staying here :D |

Cheap and Cheerful Prague Hotel Nov 05, 2007
We booked this hotel because it was nice and cheap but don't let the price or the star rating put you off - some websites say 2*. It's down a back street off the main road but its perfectly safe, dead quiet and really quite comfortable.
The room itself is basic - a bed, a couple of chairs and a desk, a few lamps and an en-suite bathroom - but its absolutely perfect for just staying the night. The breakfast room is done out quite nice, with skins and pictures on the walls giving it a tradional feel. The food isn't bad either at only an extra 10CZK p/p. The reception is 24 hours (we only ever saw one member of staff though - she appeared to work all night, sometimes answering the door in her pyjamas if it was early in the morning or late at night!) No matter what time of day though, she was always friendly and spoke decent English. The walk into the old town is around 10 minutes alongside the river. If you're trip is on a budget and you are only planning on spending a few days/nights in Prague then I'd really recommend staying here. We really enjoyed it. Although the hotel is quite simple compared to some, it's rather romantic in it's own way! Part of the Mini European Tour travel blog |
