I booked this through an online service and confirmed the rate directly with the hotel twice before arriving, yet when I arrived they had an amount around $400USD higher on their computer. After producing all the emails and booking info, I was assurred it would be fixed but upon checking out they refused to let me leave without paying the higher rate and have just said the online service quoted them a higher rate than they quoted me and ignored the hotel´s own confirmation of the rates. If it wasn´t part of an internation chain, I would assume it was a scam.

Other than that, very little English spoken so things like room service are impossible if you don´t have Portuguese. Stove in the kitchen also didn´t work entire time we were there as for some reason they couldn´t fix it. As both this and the payment situation show, customer service is generally pretty abismal for these rates.
