This market is located along the busy stretch that is La Rambla in Barcelona. You won't miss it because you will see a large group of people just outside taking photos of the entrance. Although it is very crowded and can often get tight for space it is definitely worth the visit if you are staying in the city. The market has many stalls selling all varieties of fruits, vegetables, meats and cheeses. I particularly like the fruit stalls which are a real treat for the eyes. The fruit looks so good and the strawberries, melon and pineapple that I had was very nice. I've read that many restaurants in Barcelona buy their produce from here so it has a good reputation and if you buy something you can be sure you are buying good quality. It is open from 8am to 830pm and is closed on sundays. I will visit again next time I'm in Barcelona for sure.

Tucked away just a block behind La Rambla is a big market where you can buy all fresh fruit and meat you could want. So if you are self catering and staying in the center of Barcelona this is the spot to go shopping for veggies, meat and fish. There are also a couple of restaurants where you can enjoy local meals. They also have a lot of fruit juice for sale - it isn’t made on the spot but is preserved on ice during the day so it is probably fairly fresh even if you buy it during the afternoon.

If you need to supply your spice collection at home you might be able to get some stuff in the market for home use - an obvious option is to get a bit of paella spice for trying to recreate the traditional Spanish dish at home.

The market is taking up a city block or something like that - I was actually surprised to see a produce market taking up so much space within the central part of a major European city. I thought the property values at this location would be too high for a market like this to keep the location.
