Mercado Modelo Huancayo Reviews
Visiting a market in Huancayo - Mercado Modelo Nov 22, 2009
The Mercado Modelo is the market everyone goes to in Huancayo visits. There are a couple of supermarkets, but going to an open market is still popular here.
This market is located near the train station and is well known but all the people in town. It's safe, but don't bring valuables and be cautious when you take pictures, if you do so. I did it :P
It's the perfect place to watch the local people and learn more about their customs. The market is more than just a building containing different stands and even a food court. The side streets are full with street vendors and these areas are also considered part of the market.
Here you can find veggies, fruits, meat, a food court, groceries, coca leaves, alcohol, clothing, plants, live animals, pfff.
Whereever I go, I like to visit the local open market. It really helps you understanding more the town you visit and this is not an exception.
Part of the Taking the 2nd highest train in the world, but first "The Killers" concert, yeah! travel blog
