Culinairy delights festival style Sep 17, 2010
This culinairy festival is held yearly during the third weekend in September. It gives all local restaurants an opportunity to show what they have on offer by getting together in a central location in Meppel and providing sample dishes.

The idea is that you buy tokens (€1,50 each) and you can buy a dish for a certain amount of tokens. A menu is provided and you can eat all the dishes you like at one place or walk around and have a starter here, a main there, and a dessert at another locations. All the restaurants provide tents and seating and you can stay as long or as short as you like. Of course there are wines and other drinks to accompany your food (or have on its own) available for tokens as well.

During the evening local fashion shops organise a fashion show as well, and other entertainment is there in the form of live music.

As the dishes are quite small and the "price" ranges from 2-5 tokens you can make this as cheap or as expensive as you like. My experience after two years is that it ususally works out expensive for me as I like to try many dishes. You could eat here all weekend for lunch and dinner, but count on spending a minimum of €50,- per person and more for a really good night out.
