Nice hotel for a relaxed night Jul 29, 2009

We stayed here as part of a package tour, so I don't know what we paid per night, but on the door a leaflet said a double room was about 150 euro per night. For tha money you'll get a nice clean room with 2 single beds, a bathroom and separate toilet and a little balcony. The water is hot, the beds sleep very well. only be carefull while going on to the balcony: the nice shape decorative woodwork is hard!
The hotel has 2 pools and a pool bar, which are also used by locals, but only till 6pm. Hotel guests are welcome to stay longer.
The main restaurant offers buffet style diner and breakfast, with different dishes. Not overwhelmingly much choice, but enough to keep everybody happy....plates are a different story: they tend to run out fast when there's an Italian group around.
The hotel is frequented by many tour groups, so be prepared for that.

Large clean hotel used by tour groups in Fez Mar 06, 2009

As part of a tour of Morocco my group stayed at a variety of hotels around the country with the Menzeh Zalagh hotel in Fez being the nicest and cleanest. We spent two nights at this hotel.

However though the hotel was nice the staff was not very friendly or helpful. The hotel was a popular choice for tour companies to use as when we stayed the majority of the other guests were part of other tour groups. With that in mind I would expect a more friendly and helpful staff used to dealing with a high number of foreign tourists.

The hotel is located in the new part of the city on a busy street with a shopping center across the street. It is large with nice Moroccan decor, two swimming pools, a restaurant, a gift store and a sauna. My group only ate breakfast at the hotel which was buffet style.

Smoking is a large part of the culture in Morocco and many of the hotels smell like stale cigarettes. This hotel did not have that problem.

The elevator situation was strange. There were at least two banks of elevators but the hotel had one set locked down (the one closest to our groups rooms). The elevators were working so not sure why they were not available for use by hotel guests.

Members of the group who had rooms facing the front of the hotel complained of noise from the street during the night.

If returning to Fez I would stay at this hotel again if the price was right knowing that I would have to overlook the unfriendliness of the staff.
