Easy to Get Too and Pretty Interesting Apr 19, 2012
Longshan Temple is the main temple in Taipei. The real reason I went here was that it is really really easy to find, as you can take the subway to pretty much across the street. The area around it, the Wanhau district has lots of odd shops with some pretty cool stuff; but I thought the prices were Very high, I wanted to get a pig statue and it was going for 300 dollars, thats US dollars!

The temple itself is not really historic, and has been around since the 1700s but has been destroyed many times. The really interesting thing about it is that it is an active temple, so theres a good amount of worshipers. They take 3 sticks, set them on fire, and go in front of various chambers with statues in them. They seemed to be taking it pretty seriously, so be careful with take photos, and I stayed out of the worship areas and kind of hung out on the side.

The temple has many beautiful carvings, statues, and some epic gardens on the outside. Its also free!
