If you are going to visit the pyramids there is no better location or view than the Mena House Oberoi. The hotel and the grounds are beautiful and well cared for even though the hotel is older (built in 1869). Also, the hotel beginning renovations when we were there. The service is top-notch, the pool incredible and their Indian restaurant is probably one of the best worldwide.

My only disappointment was the mattress they used in the rooms...not very comfy. The General Manager, Sanjiv Malhotra, was very accomodating in trying to find a more comfy bed but I think they were all the same. He explained that the mattresses were being upgraded as part of the renovations; so, I'm sure if you go now it will be a 5-star review across the board!!

An absolute must is the Indian restaurant: "The Moghul Room."

Although the hotel is expensive they do run special offers; you may want to check them out:

Worth every penny you'll spend!!

This is simply one of the most amazing hotels ever! It is literally situated about 700 meters from the Pyramids at Giza. Waking up to the sight of these magnificent structures and to the call of prayer at the nearby mosque is somewhat magical! This hotel has a rich history itself, and used to be popular with celebrities and government officials. The entrance is beautiful, with a distinct Arab flavor to it. The lobby is amazing, with a nice bar right next to it.

The hotel has many restaurants to choose from. The main restaurant is called "Khan el Khalili", after the famous bazaar in Cairo. It also has an Indian restaurant, and an international joint. This place also has several bars, and one has spectacular, panoramic views of the pyramids. There are also nightclubs for partying the night away.

At the Mena House Oberoi, the rooms are lavishly decorated with an Arab accent, with a level of unparalleled luxury. Many of the rooms have amazing views of the pyramids and the nearby city. Others have views towards the nice pool and gardens. All rooms come with standard bathrooms, toilet, and shower. The beds are really cozy, too!

Overall, this hotel is amazing, and really gives you a lot for your money.
