Dry and comfy bed was all I needed! Sep 05, 2013
We arrived there soaking wet and, although the plan was to sleep in a tent, we decided to sleep in the lodge and get ourselves dry. Whether it’s because there’s no competition around, or because they are some sort of general guidance on charging for the night in Norway (definitely if you’re using the Norwegian Trekking Association accommodations), the prices were rather high. We slept in a shared dormitory. The bunk beds were very comfortable with basic standards in the rooms, and a separate drying room (although if you had something in the corner, it wouldn’t get dry overnight if there was a lot of people using it). Lights were out at about 10 pm, back at about 7 am so if you needed to leave before that, you’d have to get dressed and sorted in the dark (like in our case). No blame there though, you can’t expect much from a mountain lodge. Food very nice, with a possibility of taking some with you for the day. Separate charge for boiling water (if you wanted some in your flask) and for showers. Generally, if you’re used to paying small charges for basic standards, the prices at Memurubu were a bit too much, in my opinion. Staff lovely and helpful, lodge beautiful, could have a few lovely evenings there and enjoy yourself. I would recommend it with pleasure but make sure, you take a lot of money with you.
