I put a question mark on the title because every time I fly Northwest something bad happens.  However I am planning another trip from AUS to EVV and it looks like the least expensive and most direct flight will be Northwest to Memphis connecting with Cape Air to Evansville. We stayed the night at an inn, sleeping for 6 hours and then going back on the road. Passing through Tennessee was like flipping the pages of a photography book on natural America. No cops pulled us over even though we were hauling ass.

I drove with a friend for two months all around the country when I turned 18. We left with about $35.18.

When ever I visit a new town or city the first thing I do is look for the local art museum and public/community art. Art is everywhere and often where one least expects it to be :)

32 states in the US and 8 in Canada. Travelled Canada and the USA from coast to coast within five months. Travelled mostly by train, sometimes by coach. In total 33.000 km (20.000 miles). Started and ended in Toronto. Some other highlights: Montreal, Quebec, New York, Philadelpia, Chicago, Miami, New Orleans, El Paso, LA, San Fran, Yosemite, Death Valley, Vegas, Vancouver, Jasper. Experienced temperatures varying from minus 25 degrees Celsius to +30 degrees Celsius. Only shot 6000 pictures.

Road trip! Today we drove 630 miles from Charlotte to Memphis, TN. Our final destination is San Fran to get stuff set up for the cyclists' orientation. So let me clarify this for you: we're driving from Charlotte to the other side of the country in 6 days so that we can drive BACK to D.C. in 63 days THEN back to Charlotte? Awesome! We stopped in Memphis, TN for a little while and I was able to get out and stretch my legs. Being in a sleeper room is nice, but I miss being able to talk to other passengers. After dinner I will head to the lounge car and see what is going on up there.I use to live in Memphis, back in 1990-1991, so it was nice to be in a familiar area. The train runs along the river and passes the Pyramid. This was built after I had left the city and as we left the station I got to see it for the first time....

I don't know if we'll stop in Memphis or not. It's just a good "finished with Tennessee" stopping point. It would be nice to get through Tennessee in one day and getting to Memphis is as good a place as any. It would be nice to get there while it's still light and go have dinner at a restaurant on the Mississippi or something. I'm about to start a 4,000+ roadtrip across the USA, starting in Aventura, Florida, and ending up in San Francisco, California! We had a two-hour lay-over in Memphis so we grabbed a quick bite to eat before getting on our flight to Amsterdam!  Mianna took a picture at dinner.

I was awakened early by the sound of thunder.  I went back to sleep and was roused again by thunder.
