September 11 memorial Apr 05, 2011
Although the Italian name might not strike a chord with many, the Libeskind-designed monument commemorates the men and women who lost their lives during the September 11 terrorist attacks in New York. The structure is a rather impressive one made of glass and metal, and the centre holds a piece from one of the twin towers itself.
The monument is a wonderful tribute to those that lost their lives, and is a nice area for relaxing too.
The monument is very near the train station, just around five minutes to walk from there. You will see the monument very easily if you are going to see the famous Scrovegni Chapel for the Giotto frescoes too.
Well worth a quick look when in Padua.
