Maybe the most beautiful campground in Norway Jul 10, 2012
One of the reasons that I always return to Briksdalsbreen is the amazing campground Melkevoll Bretun.

This place is very special by being a part of the Melkevoll Courtyard which has been actuated since the middle of the 16th century. Already in the 14th generation family Melkevoll is in charge now. You can feel their love to this place everywhere.

The campground is devided into small tracts with space for 2 or 3 camper vans / caravans depends on their size. So you have lots of privacy.

The surrounding is wild - high above from the mountains a waterfall falls down (the noise is everywhere though ;). You can see 2 glacier (Briksdalsbreen and Melkevollbreen) from there. The whole area is surrounded by mountains and a glacier-fed river runs through the campground. If you hike uphill to Melkevollbreen you have an amazing view on the glacier-fed lake Oldenvatnet.

Their range is a campground, 3star camping huts or 5star holiday cabins.

In the main building, you can find a café, a bathroom with showers, a sauna, a camping kitchen and a room for the laundry along with the reception. Right next to the building is the Utelada, a barn with a fireplace and seats for 50 persons, which is the official lounge for the guests.

The staff is very friendly and eager to help. I'm not sure about wi-fi but I assume it's free. In 2006 there still was a computer in the cafè which I used several times for free to check my emails but it was gone this year.

If you assume that this place would cost a fortune you're wrong. They charged us NOK 160 (no electricity) and we even got a discount of 10 % because I own the European Camping Key (Campingcard). This was far the cheapest fee on the tour.
