Melilla Vacation Guide
The Ciudad Autónoma de Melilla, as it is called in Spanish, is a rich blend between oriental exotism and occidental modernism. Situated in the North of Morocco, it is part of Spain. Its special character mixes elements of Christian, Moorish, Jewish and Hindu traditions. The old city fortress is the trace of the Spanish occuptation during more than five hundred years. In the last centuries, the city has expanded and now includes a wide range of modernist buildings and Art Nouveau elements.
The excellent weather almost all year round makes it a perfect place to enjoy life: the very rich local gastronomy, the picturesque views, the nightlife, the wonderful beach and the shopping. (Melilla is a duty free territory)
