A few hours in the Melbourne Aquarium Dec 30, 2008
I only had one full day to see what Melbourne offered, so I decided to see the Melbourne Aquarium, Museum, and Eureka Tower. I started my day in the Melbourne Aquarium and after walking through it, I would have to say it was well laid out and I would recommend this attraction to anyone visiting Melbourne.

The Aquarium is a relatively new addition to the banks of the Yarra River, but a great deal of thought went into it. It is very pedestrian friendly and judging by the crowds waiting to get in, is quite popular.

It is not a large aquarium, when compared to Sydney's, but you really do not feel the size when you are in it. I really liked the layout because it meant that I did not have to backtrack to see things I missed. All you have to do is keep going forward and you will see everything there is to see.

I especially liked the penguin exhibit and the circular reef tank. I think if time were not an issue, I would have spent more time watching the penguins go about their daily routines.

It was overcast today, so I went to the aquarium in the morning...nothing too special, pretty much just looked like your run-of-the-mill aquariums...and a lot of kids. That's when I realized it was a holiday cause the kids weren't in school. I hopped back on the tram… the US embassy under the golden arches

Next we headed to the aquarium which was rammed full of kids which annoyed me.  At 5 we met Kerry's friends James & Susanna out of their work who took us to the Queen Victoria night market.  It was really busy but good fun.  There… A rainy day

…impressive MCG (an excellent and very informative tour), visiting the markets, walking the banks of the Yarra, visiting yet another Aquarium, wandering down the shopping paradise of Chapel Street and generally soaking up Melbourne.   There's certainly plenty to keep you entertained here but the best thing about Melbourne is just wandering around, have a coffee here and a beer there, dive down the alleyways… Everybody needs good neighbours...
