Melaka River Cruise
Melaka River Cruise Malacca Reviews
Day and Night Attractions in Just a Single Cruise Aug 19, 2016
If I may rate Malacca’s attractions based on my experiences, I may say Melaka River Cruise ranks second, Melaka’s Revolving Tower being the first.
Melaka River Cruise is great means to explore Melaka at the comfort of your seat while cruising the river. There are two jetties wherein you can begin your cruise, the Muara Jetty and the Taman Rampah Jetty. Either way, the route takes around 45 minutes and covers around 9 kilometers. There is a recorded commentary that will sound off as the cruise starts. In our case, we kicked off at Muara Jetty as it is mostly used. You are less lucky if you are a foreigner because the fare is different compare to the locals.
Whichever jetty you may want to start, the cruise will pass by the following attractions. Well these are just among them, there are still a lot more to see.
*Kampung Morten – this is a traditional Malay village and living museum.
*Kampung Jawa – a small residential and commercial area for original Javanese settlers.
*Clock Tower – it is a part of the famous Dutch square, one among the red-painted structures.
*Jonker Walk – the most frequented street in Melaka and a place for dine, wine souvenirs and local finds.
*Ghost Bridge – as per my reading, this is where the Japanese soldiers throw out the heads of local Chinese business men during the WWII.
*Pirate Park – quite interesting park, with ferris wheel, swinging pirate ship, flying fox, and others.
*Not to forget are the mangrove trees that line along the banks (on some part of the river).
And so, when is the best time to go for a cruise? During daytime, you got a chance to see the architectural detail of buildings, the beauty of the nature, and the message of the murals. And on the night time, you can see the glittering and colorful lights along the river. It is advisable to join the cruise during sunset so that you can both experience the beauty of nature and the manmade attractions and at the same time the illuminated sites, just in a one go.
