Melaka Maritime Museum Malacca Reviews
A Museum Housed in a Huge Wooden Boat Aug 22, 2016
The Melaka Maritime Museum couldn’t be missed by anyone visiting Melaka City as it is located at the city center, just few meters away from the Dutch Square. This gigantic wooden ship - from the shape to the contour - is already an attraction by itself. The steep staircase leads the way to the ship’s deck. The deck gives a great view of the Melaka River. Digging inside the museum, you can see different documents and artifacts that reveal Melaka’s glorious past and its navigation and trading history. Some sort of porcelains and textiles are also on the display. There are also miniatures of ships and human size statues of navigators and traders. There was even some navigational equipment that really will make you think how the sailing was all about during that time. On the upper deck is where you can see captain’s cabin. All in all, the entrance fee compensates the experience. It’s really worth it.
