Meet Me There Reviews
wild glow in the waters Jul 17, 2009
I arrived at meet me there by a happy accident. I was at the tro tro station, imploring people, 'tell me where i can stay by the sea! I want to be by the beach'. After half an hour, a large crowd had gathered, and finally, someone suggested I go to this place.
I could hear the sea, there were palm trees in the garden, the people who welcomed me felt more like friends than staff. The comfort of the rooms was beyond what i had encountered before, all lovingly decorated, but I was really on a budget, and 20 cedis for a double pushed that for me, so they gave me a 'fully furnished' tent for 5 cedis a night i think. And by night i found the magic of the lagoon, just in front of the garden... i could see vapour trails coming from my arms... never before had i swam in phosphorescent waters... i passed away the night doing green ninja kicks in the deep blue pool.... There are no other touristy things around. It is just this low-impact place, that keeps on the down low and employs most of its staff from the village. its a cool place to unwind and explore the real life, see how ghana is and always has been on the smaller scale of fishermen, medicine women, tailors and music makers. I hunted down some palm wine and drunk it under the stars... I really recommend making a beeline for here, especially if you are in accra and need an escape from the sticky heat. its only an hour away. People in the volta region are lovely. check out www.meetmethereghana.com to see how to get there |
