Medieval Coffee Shop Gelateria Rhodes Town Reviews
Gelato and Coffee .... the perfect combination Sep 03, 2011
After David and I visited the Folk Museum in Rhodes Old Town we decided to go the the Archaeological museum next. Then... we spotted the ice cream and coffee shop. Sounded like the perfect combination.
The Gelato was displayed so cute.... each kind was labeled and shaped in funny googly eyed animals. Somehow it made it harder to decide with flavors and shapes to consider. I vacillated between lemon and vanilla (both were white: one was a dove and one was a fish). Finally I decided on the dove: vanilla. David got coconut. We both got a coffee.
It turned out my vanilla was lemon. I mentioned it to the kid at the counter. Apparently the vanilla and lemon look alike and the morning ice cream artist hadn't tested them before he labeled them. The kid offered to get me a new cone but I decided fate had played a hand in the lemon so I didn't switch out. It was zesty combination of tart lemon with sweet. refreshing (They use real fruit).
The coffee shop had specialty coffees as well as pastries and sandwiches. The bathroom was pretty clean but down a flight of stairs. (like many in Rhodes) We sat outside and around the corner at the tables and people watched as we ate. It was great way to get ready for our tour of the next museum. Highly recommended.
