A beautiful place of learning Nov 24, 2010
The Mederssa Ben Youssef is a stunning Islamic college located in the centre of the medina. It was founded in the fourteenth century and was closely affiliated with the Ben Youssef mosque which is located nearby. The site was a theological college where students were taught about Islam.

The architecture is wonderful. Intricate woodwork, stunning tiles and a bright and open feeling throughout the site. It is possible to go inside the classrooms to take a closer look, though the site is obviously just a museum these days.

The entrance fee can be payable for this site itself, or as a combined ticket for three sites (the Mederssa Ben Youssef, Marrakesh museum and the Koubba Almoravid). The ticket price for this site only is about 30 dirhams. The combined ticket price for all three sites costs 60 dirhams (approximately 6 Euros), and I recommend this option. The sites are very close to each other and would be a nice way of spending 2-3 hours.
