In Marrakech there is just one religious builidng that's open for non-muslims. Thats the former Quran school Ben Youssef. It's hidden in the Medina but signs will tell you where to find it. From the outside it looks like a small building but inside you will be surprised of the size. You can visit the courtyard and see the great woodcraft at the windows and the mosaic work. Every room is open for public except two prayer area's. Upstairs you will see the former bedrooms and you have a great view at the courtyard. Take the time to see the details of the artwork. Also take your time to take photos, because of the many tourists you will have to wait a few minutes before you have a change to take a picture without a lot of strangers. I wrote about respect many times, again this is a religious place and when you show respect to the place and the locals the will be very open and happy to tell you about the history and local habits. Around the school you will see a lot of poor people asking for some small change. That's logical because it's a Islamic habit to help poor people and the needy people go for their chances at mosques and other religious places.
