McLean Vacation Guide

McLean, Texas (pop about 800) was named for Judge William McLean, and got it's start because the railroad company had drilled a water well. The town saw growth as a result of the railroad. Route 66 was plotted through the town, and McLean saw rapid growth from those tourists

The began to fade in prominece, and the relocation of I-40 away from the town, all but killed it. McLean's downtown is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, because of it's Rt 66 heritage.

McLean is home to the Devil's Rope/Route 66 Musuem, and is worth the time, should you be in the area.
