McComb became an important industrial center after general McComb settled it and began a railway industry. The railroad museum is a highlight. The local airport does not assist in providing McComb with an air travel alternative, McComb can still rely on the railroad, Amtrak's City of New Orleans, as a non-automobile way to travel to and from McComb.

McComb is known for it's prime golfing locations and the bounty of Southern foods. Famous Jazz legend Bo Diddley was a McComb native. It is also the childhood home of R&B singer Brandy when she still had the last name Norwood. Britney Spears also attended McComb's Parklane Acadamey.
