We made reservations at Maze on a Monday. On Mondays they have a nice concept. Between 6 and 8 o'clock pm you can have a 3 course dinner starting with a complimentary glass of champagne. Than you can choose from 3 starters, 3 main courses and 3 deserts.
As a starter we ordered:
Chilled pea soup with ham hock and pea salad and
marinated beetroot with Dorstone organic goat’s curd, pine nuts and Cabernet Sauvignon dressing.
As a main course we chose:
Braised veal shin with rocket pesto and white onion risotto and Loch Duart salmon with a fondue of leek, vinaigrette of brown shrimps and horseradish.
For dessert we both had:
Lemongrass panna cotta with pickled stem ginger, Scottish raspberries and a piece of shortbread.....and a plate with an extra dessert and chocolat writing saying: "From Maze", so nice!
Because we had a little something to celebrate we also ordered an additional wine flight. With every course a different glass of wine.
All together for £45 pp
The service was nice, not to quick not to slow and although different personel passed our table and asked how everything was, it was not annoying at all, we felt appreciated for being there. With every course (which all looked like little paintings) the waiter explained in detail what was on our plate and told us something about the accompanying wine. The courses were not big but because of the great taste of everything (taste-explosion on every bite) and superb wines we went out really satisfied and happy to tell everyone we've had a great dinner at Gordon's :)
