A quiet oasis in the bubbling centre of Playa del Carmen Nov 04, 2007
This small hotel (aprox. 28 rooms) is found in the middle of the busy, bubbling center of Playa del Carmen. You'll be directly there where it all happens and within 100 meters from the beach. Although you're in the center, during daytime the hotel is an oasis of peace. It's quiet and peaceful and perfect to relax at the pool with nothing on your mind other than a good book. During the evening of course you will hear the sounds of the nightlife with live music everywhere but I found it not very disturbing and from midnight the music will be gone. Anyway, you probably will spend your evening in one of the many the restaurants and one or few of the bars that can be found everywhere.
The hotel is nothing about luxury. Your room is basic; 2 queen size beds, a ceiling fan, a shower, a sink, a desk and chair and a rack where you can store your clothes. Everyday your room is cleaned, beds are made and you'll get a fresh set of towels. Just what I missed was a refrigerator and a water cooker. But for a few cents, you can buy freezing cold sodas from the machine at the pool and you can get coffee and tea on 5th avenue. The pool is clean, but cold, especially when you've been heathen up by the sun. You will also get a guest-pass for 10% off at the small cantina "Tropical" next to the hotel; a perfect location for a breakfast. Prices for a double room (May 2009) varies from 40 US$ to 70 US$ per day depending the period of your stay. For airco add 10 US$ per day. Part of the Mexico November 2008 travel blog
