Great for snorkeling and diving! Oct 08, 2009
Don't expect to freely sunbathe here...

Maxima Aqua Fun Resort does not have sandy beaches. Instead it's on a cliff's edge, smoothed down by steps, that extends towards the water, creating a rather dramatic effect during sunset.

The waters is clear and deep. Perfect for snorkeling and diving.

They have a very, very, very long water slide, that drops you down into an area said to be 100 feet deep! Don't worry, they have lifeguards waiting for you in the water, at the end of the slide. You are fitted with a life vest, checked and secured by another person before you slide down.

All persons who in the water is required to wear a life vest for protection --- after all, the water depths are no joke!

This place is simple.

A few cottages for shade, grills for cooking the best beach food, diving and snorkeling equipment (with a fee), and shower/bathroom stalls.

There are no shops close by, so bring all the stuff you need as you would go to a picnic - food, utensils, places, drinks, water, cups, etc. Although they do sell drinks but at a more inflated rate. They charge corkage fees for drinks only

You can also stay overnight and stay at their various types of lodgings (see below). Or bring your own tents if you choose to camp out!

To get there, it is best to bring your own car. If not, take a bus that'll take you to Samal Island, and from bus terminal, hire a motorcycle or cab to take you to Maxima. Note: The roads become rough and unpaved as you leave the main road, and get closer to Maxima. They also now offer transportation options.
