Tasty Empanadas (pastries) in a cozy restaurant - Mavery Sep 28, 2009
Don't let the name "Pizzeria" dissapoints you. This place doesn't serve just pizzas but also tasty empanadas.
It's located in Miraflores, but not close to the square, so you might not walk around it unless you go to visit this place. But trust me, it's worth it the walking.
The place is small and cozy. Outside it looks like a cabin made of logs. It could be cold outside, but it's always warm inside with low lights. The dining area is bigger than it looked, there are 3 rooms. It used to be a house. The kitchen is open and you can see it from the principal dining area. The decoration is about logs, wood and very neat.
Ok, now the food. I didn't try the pizzas, went straight for the empanadas. Usually you'll find chicken, beef and cheese ones. But not here. They offer you a bigger selection. I was in charge of choosing and picked up the: Choclo (corn) a thin pastry stuffed with corn, onion, Gruyère, Mozzarella and Parmesan cheese & the Aji de Gallina (Peruvian dish with chicken in spicy sauce) a thin pastry stuffed with Mozzarella cheese and the Peruvian dish. All the empanadas here are a thin pastry, which is fried and served warm. So the cheese melts, yummy...
The staff is nice, although they are always busy. This place works 12 hrs and there are always people.
And it's cheap!!! Nice atmosphere, delicious and cheap food make it a very good deal. If you are in Miraflores walk a bit more than to the central park and enjoy these delicious empanadas. You won't regret it.
