Mausoleum & memorial Che Guevara, Santa Clara May 12, 2017
Arriving on the plaza de la Revolucion, which is quite large and bare, it is impossible to miss the gigantic statue of the "Che". Whatever one thinks of the person himself, the charisma and personality of the man stood him in good stead with the Cubans themselves (or, at that time, the majority). The main leader along with Cienfuegos during the battle for Santa Clara, thus precipitating the flight of Batista, it was natural to put his memorial here.

On the pedestal is engraved one of his quotations " Hasta la victoria Siempre" - "Ever onwards to victory", which you'll find on billboards, posters and on souvenirs all over Cuba. There is a fresco also to the left depicting the Che along with his "CompaƱeros" during the struggle for Santa Clara. In the memorial garden behind the museum and statue, the remains of Guevara and his 16 comrades are buried since 1997 with an eternal flame lit by Fidel Castro.

In the museum beneath the statue you'll find many photos and articles that belonged to Che and his men, laid out chronologically up to the time of his death. One of the better museums in all Cuba.

Entrance is free but no photos in the memorial or museum
Pronounced by Fidel Castro in 1967…

True enough, but the Che knew there was only one boss, he could never have taken out Fidel
