 Nice collection and temporarily exhibit Nov 15, 2009
The Mauritshuis in The Hague is now used as a museum; they offer a permanent collection and temporarily exhibits.
The permanent collection consists of works by Vermeer, like the famous Girl with a Pearl Earring, Rembrandt and Jan Steen. The paintings are in the rooms of this old mansion, with very nice wooden floors etc. The temporarily exhibit we visited was 'Te Paard' (on horseback) with paintings from Philips Wouwermans. This was positioned on the first floor, also in original rooms. |

In the heart of the historic center of Den Haag you`ll find Mauritshuis. Here you can see the Girl with Pearl Earring by Vermeer, the master of light. When visiting Mauritshuis you can eksperience Dutch painters such as Vermeer, Rembrandt, Brueghel, Steen, Potter and Hals beside Flemish and German painters. Take the audio travel and listen to the explanation of most of the famuos work. Here you can walk around the hole day and get lost in beatiful paintings.

To day we will walk around in Den Haag and visit Mauritshuis. We all wanted to see Vermeers "Girl with Pearl Earring". Vermeer is one of my favorite Dutch painters.

The Mauritshuis exhibits many paintings by Dutch masters, such as Johannes Vermeer, Rembrandt van Rijn and Paulus Potter.
The Escher Museum is located in the former Royal Palace on the Lange Voorhout.

after our snack, it was already dark and twilight was creeping in, we walked around the the cultural area, the mauritshuis museum and the binnenhof or the inner court of the knights. then the parliament, where in the background has the perfect view of the small but amazing skyline of the hague in twilight.
it was really getting cold, that was in autumn, so we decided… a city with four names |
