Yessss, internet that doesn't move at a snails pace! Hey guys, it's been really good to get emails from all of you, sorry I haven't been able to reply, I haven't had access to the internet because I have been at Sepupa, where the crocodile research camp is based (although I did have phone reception that was better than the reception I got in Zambia...) But it has been good to hear from you all :)
I am back in Maun so obviously I survived the crocodiles of the Okavango. The camp was near a vi…

After a night in a camp outside of Maun we were up early to get ready for the Okavango Delta, the world's largest inland delta. We were pulled down a partly dried up lake in Mokoros, two passengers per boat and one local doing all the work. Our puller, Anams, was always smiling, talking to his fellow pullers, and teaching us Setswana. 'Dumela' means hello and 'ke a go rata' means I love you.
The two nights we spent in the delta were two of the best nights I had in my travels. One …

Because our travel arrangements were a bit complicated we had to fly from the far north east back to Gabs and the next morning back up north west by plane…Air Botswana was due to leave at 8 AM so we made it to the airport by 7. Well, in theory they were leaving at 8…in practice we were told the flight had been delayed to 10 AM without a particular reason. Air Botswana is an airline with 5 planes or so and this one had been in Gabs all night…well, we tried to take it the Botswana …

We crossed over into Botswana today. As soon as we crossed the border there was a huge change in the scenery. We now feel like this is Africa. Grass huts surrounded by wire fences to keep the animals out, etc. People are much more friendly here. I think that the feelings and structures of apartheid are still a huge barrier in South Africa and Namibia.
We went into the Okavengo Delta with the local towns people. They poled us into the delta through the reed…

Wednesday October 13th; Gweta.
Our guide takes us for an elephant Jeepsafari. We stop close to one of the few trees the herd gathers around to feed on the trees and we spot one bull in must in the distance and try to get the best picture, as the jeep allready starts up again; we look at eachother 'not done with taking pictures yet' :( Soon we get out of sight of the elephants near thicker bush and we stop again. The jeep had a burst tyre ...

After leaving the Chobe River still with the image of large heards of drinking elephants in our minds, we continued through Botswana - the ninth country of our trip in just eight weeks. To think that the end is only three weeks away is starting to make us a little sad, but we are conscious not to spoil the remainder of the journey by thinking of going home just yet!!
Botswana is a clever country. Some time ago, they found a large count of diamonds in the land. These have now all go…

We stayed at Nkwazi lodge. Before raising the tents, we were given a wildlife survival talk from the campowner. A guy from New Zealand. Often you see them in southern Africa. Running bars, campsites or farms. This one instructed us with all kinds of tips, especially to not to challenge wild animals. The talk was so long, afterwards we did not any time to visit the local crocodile farm. A pity, you can't have it all. In the evening Tom did a little repeat of the Kiwi's adress. We were set to t…
