Maui, my favourite of the Hawaiian Islands, Maui is where I completely
relaxed. When I was sitting at the airport waiting for my husband to return the
rental car, I was thinking how nice it would be to stay – never go home.
However, before I leave, let me tell you about my stay. We
stayed in Lahaina, a quaint little fishing village on the west coast of Maui.
The Plantation Inn was the gorgeous bed and breakfast where we stayed, and
enjoyed breakfast out by the pool each m…

We went to Maui and Kauai for our honeymoon. If the islands were a bit closer to the mainland (and a bit less money to live), we would move there in a heartbeat. I just thought I would share some images!

Regarding sunrise at Haleakala, Mark Twain wrote, "It was the sublimest spectacle I ever witnessed and I think the memory of it will remain with me always." Truly, it was a spectacular sight.

I truly loved my adventure on Maui and the best thing about it was being able to share it with my mom. I learned some things I never knew about my mom and we created some great memories I’ll cherish always.
It’s amazing how friendly and happy everyone is on Maui. The island just moves at a slower pace and I guess everyone instantly gets in a relaxed and happy mood. If only we could bottle the positive energy created on the island and bring it back to the…

Just wanted to write a quick blurb about my discovery for fine dining in Hawaii. Most people I have talked to keep asking if it was expensive to go to hawaii. Usually the answer would be yes, but I found myself telling people that in fact, it isn't expensive at all...if you know where to go.
Obviously if you're in a nice hotel or resort you should expect to pay a good sum of money. However, I found that doing a little bit of research pays off. I have to admit tha…

So I've decided that Maui is my favorite Hawaiian island. Sure, Oahu is busier, and Kawaii is greener and more pre-historic looking, but Maui is my baby. The island is much more manageable to navigate (except for the northern area that is only passable by Jeep or 4 wheel drive. There is a nice mixture of local and tourist activities and feel. The watersports on this island are far superior to the others. I went out on this boat hosted by a local family who literally made their living lugging v…

I was looking at old pictures from when I was in high school and I came across my pictures from my trip to Maui on spring break 2002. Oh the memories! I was part of a college prep TRIO program called Hawaii Upward Bound (HUB) at Leeward Community College (LCC). This trip was all paid for through this program and the only thing I had to bring was spending money. I liked Maui a lot. Despite the cold temperatures (and the winds didn't help at all), Haleakala (or "Ho…

Our flight wasn’t until the afternoon so we didn’t have to get up too early. In the morning after we finished! packing me and Kori went for a walk on the beach and I properly disposed of my lei. What you do is cut the string and throw it in the garbage and then your supposed to throw the flowers back into the ocean so that’s what we did. Then we checked out and then had the couple hour drive to the airport. Gave the car back to the rental place and checked in for our flight. Flight was …

We thought a good way to start out the new year would be to get married on Maui :) We've had this trip planned since before we left for Korea. We met 16 members of our families in Ka'anapali at the Ka'anapali Shores Hotel. It was wonderful to see everyone after being away from home for 6 months. The first couple days I ran around with my mom and grandma working out last minute wedding details while the rest of the wedding party and guests caught some rays and frolicked…

Haleakala, “House of the Sun.” This must have been an impressive volcano when active (which I believe was like 400 years ago.) It is ten thousand feet straight up from sea level (about 3000 meters.) The huge crater is about 7 miles (11 km) across, 2 miles (3 km) wide and drops about 2,500 feet (800 m) from the rim. On my several trips to Hawaii, I’ve been up to Haleakala three times and twice I’ve hiked down into the crater.
It is like hiking onto the …

A week vacation is too short, and if you think more about it makes it even shorter, as your mind wanders back home of very cold temperature and more white stuff falling on the ground. As soon as the morning sun is creeping into the sky among clouds, you planned for the day, rain or shine. One rainy day doesn't make a difference. It's even more colorful to your sceneries and knowing it also rains in Maui ...
On the second day, early morning we drove to a gas station…

What an amazing little island. I stayed near Lahaina on the NW shore but travelled all over the island with my buddy. The car we rented was a complete junker, but the 'lil Nissan held up somehow. I thought for sure we were going to breakdown when we drove the thing from sea level up to 10,000+ ft at the top of Halaekala. Fortunately the car made it and we were treated to one of the most incredible views ever, that of the massive weather eroded crater nessled in the omin…
