Mattmar Church

Medevial church, built in stone above the remains of an old stave church, panoramic views, next to Vaetabacken, the old homestead museum with an observation tower, old farm buildings with collections, café and culture path.

The first church was build about 11th century. It was a stave church. Around 13th century there was build a stone church. This church was was extended in the 17th century. In the church there are eight wooden skulptures from late Middle Age. The baptismalfont in Italian style is from the latest part of the 16th century. In 1779 the bell tower was build in wood.

Outside the church you have a beautiful viuw ouer the mountains Oviksfjällen and Åreskutan.
