Matapalo is a beautiful village on the road between Dominical and Quepos. A relatively small village with a beautiful stretch of beach.
This village is slowly being develped as the road between Dominical and Quepos is being improved. there are some beautiful cabinas here where you can relax and soak up the sun off the ebaten track.

According to our guidebook, the Oso Peninsula is the most "biodiverse" region in the world. Given these bold claims, we were keen to check out the rainforests nearby, and signed up for a "rainforest" tour with Osa Adventures from their office in Puerto Jimenez. The tour guide was pretty flexible, and we arranged it so that we could hike through the rainforest in the morning, then go surfing around Matapalo, a surf location known for fun rights.
