Lovely Food, Friendly Service Mar 18, 2011
Set on the main road between Southport and Ormskirk, Master McGrath's has a lounge bar (no need to book but get there early) or the option to dine in the restaurant where bookings are taken. Went here for dinner with a good friend who had dined here previous. Currently there is a spring menu on offer which incorporates 2 courses for 11.95 or 3 courses for 12.50, though orders have to be taken before 7pm. We arrived at about 6.15pm and the lounge bar was quickly filling up to capacity. We were greeted by a friendly bar person and shown to a small table. An array of menu's were handed to us but we had already decided to opt for the 3 courses for 12.50 menu. Good job really as I have never seen so many choices available over the 3 menus in my hand. I opted for the garlic & Stilton mushrooms to start with, followed by the pan fried pork loin steak, served with mushroom sauce and mash. Being a dessert fiend I opted for the sticky toffee pudding, with butterscotch sauce and vanilla ice cream, I was not disappointed. My friend opted for the Wood Pigeon breast served with rocket, followed by Thai fish cakes served with salad and chunky chips and she chose ice cream for dessert. The service was swift, and each course was perfectly decorated and served. There was not too long a wait between courses either. Would definitly recommend eating here again as the menu is so wide spread
