Grrrr....we are not fond of Baltimore after being stuck in traffic for HOURS!!!
They do have a cool WalMart on the water though....thats all we had to amuse ourselves with. We were literally at a standstill for a couple of hours! Boo!
We stopped off at Chick fil a some where after Baltimore for dinner....
We had been travelling for 18 hours by then and still had a few more to go, thanks to the Baltimore traffic!
Everyone was getting cranky by then. We were all tired...Cubby made a nest i…

The wife and daughter had been very tolerant of my historic sightseeing up to this point. I guess it was time to yield to their demands and engage in some shopping. We caught the water taxi near Fort McHenry (the southernmost point of the taxi service) and headed to the Inner Harbor. It is a collection of eateries, shopping, attractions and whatever else might squeeze dollars from your wallet. It was very nice, clean, and well-patr…

Went to DC for several days. I was expecting cool weather and fall colors, but it was unusually warm and very humid. Managed to get to Mount Vernon one day and Maryland another. In DC be sure and see the Museum of American History and eat in the Museum of American Indians (they have native foods from all over the Americas)

Spring break is normally at the beach right? So this year we decided to go north instead of south. Kind of as skiing uphill LOL.

So while we were in Iraq a few buddies and I decided to go to Vegas when we got back to have a little fun. We planned to go in late January, not realizing that it would coincide with Super Bowl Weekend. But hey we just wanted to have fun. Anyway I flew out of Dulles at 10 am and arrived in Vegas at around 4pm. We had arranged for a limo at the airport, it sounds fancy but it only cost $40 to and from the airport, so I figured hey, why not?

Really itching to get some big cities under my belt--so I headed down towards Baltimore... Parked my car on the south side of town in a very nicely restored area... From what I gathered, this part of town was nothing but decay a few years ago. It's great to see real efforts to reverse urban rot. (Although urban rot is fascinating to see as well). I followed the wharf up to the touristy harbour area. Took a couple of clips, including one in front of the submarine (figure…

Opponents: Calvert, Huntingtown, Patuxent
The kids got out of eighth period early enough to change and make it to the buses, so that we could leave before the end of the schoolday. One athlete still missed the bus. We were lucky this time and were able to take two buses. I rode on the girls' bus with only about a dozen athletes while Coach Rita got the boys' bus. I graded papers and listened to my MP3 player; she slept.
Once at Patuxent High School, we were joined b…

While Dan underwent a quick orientation at the restaurant I took to the
streets to explore. There were so many little cafes and restaurants of
every imaginable food I was overwhelmed. The shops along the way were
filled with just about anything you could want. It's definitely a place
to stop and explore if you're enroute to the DC area. I only had two
regrets. The first was that I had only just under an hour in which to
do my exploring. The second was that while we were there it was rai…

So Sunday is Mother's day...we were contemplating on going back out to DC to see the Smithsonian or to go see my sister for lunch...we opted for lunch because we knew how much she wanted to go eat at Captain James' Seafood Restaurant. So we packed up our bags...got the car and headed out!
We got up to Baltimore and met up with my sister and walked down South Chester to get some grub. We went and ate at Captain James and had a wonderful meal...the service was gre…

It started innocently enough; I visited Juneau, Alaska in June 1993 and explored the State Capitol building. A few months later, It was Montgomery, Alabama's. In the course of time, it became a hobby. Near the end it became a bit of an obsession. Then, in August of 2006, I visited my 50th US State Capitol building in Pierre, SD. (Yeh!)
Yes, I know, I'm a geography nerd....
