I only speak five french words and it would have really helped us if I just tried to learn some more before we went to Marseille. Very few people can speak in english though they tried really hard to help us with directions. The first person I asked for directions was the bus driver who drove us fr…

On a whim, my friend Asra and I decided to take a little trip down to Marseille. I'd just returned from a week in Provence with my parents, and I was eager to return. We booked train tickets one rainy evening in Paris and by noon the next day we were traipsing through the trainstation i…

It's my last week in Marseille, the city that I've declared as my home away from home... and I'd like to drop my final sentiments for this beautiful, yet often misunderstood, city down...Despite the dirt and poop, I personally feel that Marseille's one of the best cities to live in in France, as it…

Today we flew to MSR! The weather was supposed to be horrible, but really it was very nice. It stormed a bit at the landing and drizzled before we got the bus into the city, but that was really not hard to handle by any means. After we got the bus to the central station we got the metro to the stop…

I have always thought that I wanted to live in Paris, yet when I spent
one day in Marseille, I changed my mind. The atmosphere was perfect.
Sun beating down yet with the seas strong breeze it wasn't
uncomfortable. We stayed in the Hotel Vertigo (actually a hostel) and
loved every part of it. Th…

Coming into Marseille was quite a treat. One of my first few times on the French trains, I was deeply impressed by the timeliness, the level and the speed of service. The ride from Angouleme took about seven hours, via Toulouse, where a short stop-over gave me a chance to walk around th…

More than 2,000 miles, various
mountain chains and countless bodies of water separate France from Armenia.
Still, 10 percent of the southern French city of Marseille consists of
immigrants from the distant Middle Eastern nation after a devastating genocide
beginning in World War I forced many A…

After a long trip, 20 hours of flaying, trains and busses, I arrive to Marseille to pass a part of my vacations with my sister who lives here!
It’s a nice city, full of verities. It’s not the typical French city, but it has it own charm!
The beach surrounded by mountains gave it its beauty, its old streets and monuments over charged by history make you fill familiar with its past.
There are plenty of things to see and to do in this lovely city in south of France!

So I had big plans today. I was going to take a train to Nimes and then a bus to Pont du Gard (google it, it's pretty cool looking). Apparently I didn't notify the French trains and buses with enough notice, for them to readjust their schedules so my timing would work out...
I met a couple from C…

On August 25th we decided to grab our swimming trunks and head down to the coast to hit the cliffs and swimming holes we saw a couple days before. But after a long night of partying and no sleep, this turned into a surreal day for us as we tried to release our bodies of intoxicants. We pretty much …
