Marriott Hotel Visalia

This eight story hotel facility in downtown Visalia is adjacent to the convention center. Built by the city of Visalia in hopes of bringing more conventions to the city, it was offered to be run by whichever hotel chain would do a good job. Marriott Hotels has is today and is it being run as a four star hotel. Higher class bedding and flat screen Televisions and high-speed internet access are among the amenities. Although the rates are high for our area, the amenities and location make it a nice hotel. The on premises restaurant has never received good reviews and with all of the other good places to eat with a half mile it is a wonder it is still open.

The city of Visalia decided about fifteen years ago to have a nice large hotel built next to the new Visalia Convention Center. A large chain hotel built a nice building, with an upscale eatery and so began this hotel. For more reasons than need be told they sold a year ago and Marriott has taken over and put in $8.5 million in renovation costs to bring it up to four-star status. They now offer a business center, have changed the restaurant to an Asian flavor named Zhuo, 195 elegant rooms and what they claim are lavish amenities including first-rate service. The hotel is connected to the 114,000 square foot Convention Center, and is right in the middle of the historic and thriving downtown. After all of the hoopla surrounding the major renovation this hotel still gets the less than stellar reviews it did before, including the restaurant.
