Marriott Hotel Santiago

Especially for the business traveler, the Santiago Marriott will serve you well. Impeccable South American service greets you as soon as you arrive in the driveway. Although you are about 15 minutes from downtown, the hotel has a good location in relation to shopping and restaurants. Although I would rate the lobby lounge a 6 out of 10, the executive level lounge had good local fare for finger foods and a good selection of Chilean beers and wines. The hotel has 2 restaurants - The Cafe Med and the Latin Grill. The Cafe Med has a great lunch buffet that had everything from Calamari to Chilean Sea Bass with everything in between and a good, diverse salad selection. The Latin Grill was superb. I had a spectacular shrimp appetizer that had a sauce that was so good that I almost wiped out the table's breadbasket trying to mop it all up, and my steak could have been cut with a butter knife. I also had a breathtaking view from my room that was nice to wake up to every day. UPDATE: Just stayed at the Marriott Santiago again in October and will be back in December and March. Now that I have accumulated some points, my room was unbelievable; had a corner room with a conference room that actually came in handy when an immediate need for a meeting at the hotel saved time from getting across town to the corporate office. Cafe Med still had a great selection of fresh Mediterranean tappas and the Latin Grill had a different menu featuring items rarely found on the menu. I had the venison, which was unbelievable. Despite the other 5-star hotels in Santiago, I will always stay here when I travel to Santiago.
