Apr 12, 2006 The best part about our Nation's Capitol is that most of the attractions and monuments are Free! The bad part is the cost for a decent hotel downtown. I splurged and stayed right at the heart of the D.C. area Metro Center. The Hotel has exceptional service and security for all who stay there. They check everyone before they are allowed in the elevators. The views are great from the higher floors, and the Metro is just downtstairs. Its the major station which connects to all the sights of Washington. Most everything is withing a hiking distance (Not to far, but not to close!) I recommend the Hotel and the Washington Downtown Area, but dont go to far north or you will think you are in a different country! NJD....
