Gorgeous hotel at the end of Via Veneto Sep 03, 2009
Location is fairly good. You're literally right next door to the Villa Borghese and any tour will happily pick you up from this hotel. Mostly American tourists since its the Marriott. You're about 2/3 of a mile away from the nearest Metro and about 1/2 mile from the always abuzz Hard Rock Cafe, (who apparently, does not deliver!)
Marriott Grand Flora is probably one of the posher hotels along Via Veneto - an already posh neighborhood. But this sort of applies only to the outside. There's a lovely historic element when you see this hotel from the street, but when you go inside.. it's just average. The rooms are tiny. The bathrooms are fairly spacious. There is free wired internet (speed is a bit slow though) but no wifi. And you have to stick your key in the wall to keep the lights on. But the good thing is that there is air conditioning and heater! Woohoo, thank god this is very important. Maids come with chocolates every night and there's turndown service. The front desk is a bit schitzo though. They're not that helpful, but then they relent and they're super polite after they've finally given in. The women who work here tend to be more helpful and accommodating then the men. For 299Euro a night? Not worth it. For Marriott points rewards? It'll do. P.S. sorry for the bad pics. I was literally at this hotel ONLY at night and the facade of it is large enough that you have to cross the street to get a decent picture of it. |
