Marrakesh Museum Marrakech Reviews

National treasure Nov 24, 2010
The Marrakesh Museum is located in the heart of the medina and was previously known as the Dar Menebhi Palace, which built in the nineteenth century. The palace was restored about 10 years ago and now serves as a museum which houses:
- art from the modern period and from earlier centuries; - pottery from various part of Morocco; - coins; - books; and - pottery which ranges from Moroccan Jewish, Berber and Arab backgrounds. Such an extensive collection is housed in a beautiful building that has stunning ceilings, fountains and walls which are richly decorated. It’s an odd thing to say, but their toilet facilities are very clean and nice to use too! The entrance fee can be payable for this site itself, or as a combined ticket for three sites (the Mederssa Ben Youssef, Marrakesh museum and the Koubba Almoravid). The ticket price for this site only is 30 dirhams. The combined ticket for all three sites costs 60 dirhams (approximately 6 Euros), and I recommend this option. The sites are very close to each other and would be a nice way of spending 2-3 hours. Part of the Spain, Morocco and Portugal travel blog |
