Maroosh Lebanese Restaurant Bangkok Reviews
Cheapest shisha in Bangkok! Oct 03, 2011
I was told about this place by a friend, and decided to check it out.
Located on Sukhumvit Soi 5, it is quite easy to find - in the side street on the right hand side, across the road from the Fortuna Hotel. Big blue signs make it very visible to spot from the street. Surrounded by several massage parlors and hair salons, and also several Japanese Restaurants across the street also.
The restaurant has 2 levels, and a small outdoor seating area. The place was empty when we went for a Sunday lunch, so opted to sit outside and people watch. The chairs were not very comfortable, and did not match the Lebanese theme of the place. We found out afterwards that they have a balcony upstairs which is much nicer.
Their were several waiters and waitresses standing around waiting for us to take our order, but not one of them seemed interested in what was happening around them - no smiles, and talking very slowly and like they were tired and over worked. The shisha boy however was very friendly and kept asking us lots of questions.
For our lunch we ordered cheese and olives, a mixed salad and dip plate, and naan bread. Their was enough bread to feed a small army, and the salads and dips were amazing - more than enough for 2 people also. A very satisfying meal. We didn't order any drinks, only table water. For all this, it was only 300baht per person. A bargain if you ask me!
Shisha is the cheapest in Bangkok, at only 100baht. They have the normal range of flavours for the area - grape, mint, apple and strawberry and will mix flavours also. The taste was not as strong as other local places, but still very good, and nothing worth complaining about at such a cheap price.
I would like to go back, and next time try out a few different meals and sit upstairs. Hopefully the staff were just having a bad day.
