Damascus with its charming flair, provides an exceptional night live atmosphere.

Both traditions and religious views in Syria both are a common reason why night life in Damascus is seen as being in a restaurant with the family, hearing some music, in very few cases, some people would dance and that's it.

Marmar bar is one of few survivors in Damascus. behind anciant walls, at the end of narrow passage, A little bar has all the charm, all the ambiant to be the place to be. Visited regulary by a new generation of secular youth, and all sort of interresting people, the two big rooms often get full on a Thursday night. Arabic music mixed with house, r&b, rock and latin music makes the place a Dance-Bar for everyone.

Every now and then some local bands perform there, jazz, rock and alternative music finds it way to the audience, no one expects in a middle east country. Movie night on Monday. And if you think Damascus is alchohol free. check the bar... the motto is saving water ;)

What is great about the place, is that the owner works there, sit with costumers who are often friends, listen to suggesions and often apply them.

If you go there with the right company, you won't forget the night, specially when you go out and notice it is 7 am... and you are starving. Don't worry, breakfest is 100m away.
