Hwy 89, Markleeville, CA, USA
Small Country Town May 28, 2014
I stayed several days at Markleeville at a small campsite on the outskirts of town.
They had toilets, running water, bear boxes but like a lot of sites, no showers.
I guess all RVs have their own showers so it is really only the renters that miss out.
From here I fished the Carson river and also across the Sonora Pass to the Stanislaus river for a day driver. Majestic scenery. I would have stayed on the Stanislaus river but none of the campsites had bear boxes and after my experience of seeing the bear at Mono I was not going to risk it.
At that stage I had also hear of so many bear stories of people when staying at Yosemite so to me a bear box was a must.
This campsite also had a nice stream running through it.
