Markgrafenhof Rauen Reviews
A little bit of rural flair Jun 30, 2009
'Markgrafenhof' is a rustic country inn combined with a guest-house and farm shop situated in Rauen not too far away from Berlin.
I've just had the opportunity of having a snack at this location until now so that I can't rate the accommodation but the stop at the restaurant was a good choice indeed.
The property was a great farm in its early years and is a likable spot to have a bite to eat or host a larger get-together nowadays.
The service staff is friendly and attentive, the menu offers a range of diverse down-home dishes and the general price-performance ratio is absolutely acceptable.
Remember, you're staying in the country, which means you cannot expect the fanciest menu of all but the neatly and inventively created interior and yard are an additional plus. While waiting for your ordered lunch, cake and coffee or dinner you don't get bored, that's for sure. There're heaps of intriguing designs and ancient relics from the past farm life to discover. No matter if you're examining the still used brick oven, all these different farm utensils the names of which are almost forgotten, the huge wine barrels that form the bar or photos that seem to be the remnants from an old treasure chest, the time until the dish appears in front of you flies by just like that. Therefore I think this restaurant is also highly recommendable for families with little fidgetting kids.
Just enjoy a laid-back meal in a charming and warm atmosphere!
