Mariners North Apartments Reviews
Nice Open Spaces Jun 13, 2009
I stayed in these apartments for just over three weeks last year, and I have to say that they are pretty comfortable and decent overall. The place is not a hotel, it is a serviced apartment, but is suitable for the long-stay worker, or holiday maker with a bit of extra cash that wants to splurge a little bit.
The facilities are the same as any two bedroom apartment that you would usually live in, except these ones are serviced every Monday like a hotel. The service itself is quite good, but you pay through the nose if you want anything over and above the norm. I recall the DVD player wasn't working properly, and it took no longer than 3 days for somebody to even come and have a look at it, only to declare "I don't know what's wrong" and leave it alone, saying almost jokingly that there was plenty on TV anyway (i.e. why do I even need the DVD player?). But that's the only incident I had there, and considering the circumstances I'll let it slide. They have good outdoor facilities (pool/spa/gym), but can get very crowded if everyone wants to use it at once (as happens on weekends). But the location is right on the Strand, and it only a few minutes walk from all the cafes and bars, as well as the museum and aquarium; so for the tourist it is an ideal spot to be. The ferry to Magnetic Island is also just a stone's throw away. Overall if you are willing to spend the money, it offers a nice bit of comfort and convenience for your stay in Townsville. Perfect for families or group travellers alike. |
