Marina Inn San Francisco Reviews
Pleasant hotel in Marina District Dec 19, 2014
Marina Inn hotel in Marina District of San Francisco is one of the loveliest hotels we had an opportunity to stay at on our US trip.
Close by location to the Fisherman’s Wharf, Lombard Street, along with many other attractions, and a culinary district of San Francisco make it a perfect base for your city adventure. In addition, the neighbourhood feels rather pleasant and quiet comparing to very busy streets of the city.
Having arrived fairly late in the evening, we were content to have been dealt with very briefly at the check-in desk. The staff was very considerate while dealing with us throughout the process, and during other enquiries.
Since the hotel is set in an older building, there is no lift to help you transport your luggage to the higher levels. Nonetheless, you can always ask for assistance at the check-in desk.
The hotel décor reminded me somewhat of old British houses. Floral wallpaper, dark hardwood furniture, bay windows with seating and wooden railings could have been taken out of any British house from not that far past. All these features very much emphasised the hominess of the place filing it with warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Our Queen Room was the one with a bay window which provided a little extra room in this quite a compact space. However, the room was designed so as not to trip over everything.
Second time during the trip I saw the brilliant solution of ‘expanding’ bathroom capacity by moving a sink into a small alcove outside the bathroom.
Bathroom itself was just big enough to fit a bathtub with a shower and a toilet.
As you would expect of a good hotel, all your toiletries were provided.
A slight disadvantage to this place was a lack of air conditioning which does not seem so important during winter months, but might become a real issue (or maybe not) during a hot summer.
Not many times during the trip we had a pleasure of a proper continental breakfast (not counting muffins and sweet rolls here). Although the choice here wasn’t very large (boiled eggs, cheese, sandwich meat, cereal, jam), at least you received some real breakfast food. The shame that the breakfast room was tiny, had only 6 very small tables, so you had to be in luck to get a table right away.
As in most hotels, free Wi-Fi was available and caused no issues during our stay.
Price paid for a 3-night stay - €153 which was cheap considering the location.
I definitely recommend this hotel as it left a charming and lasting impression on me.
