Marikina Overview

Marikina is a first class city and it is highly urbanized and considered as one of the most competitive cities in the Philippines. It is also known as " The shoe capital " and it is located approximately 21 km east of Manila.

The city is known for It's River as the catch basin for floodwaters during the rainy season because it is located in between two mountainous places which are Rizal and a Hilly Quezon City.

The southernmost portion of the city occupies the numerous commercial, industrial and business establishments and interesting places, it is also located the "center" of the city which is the busiest district of the city. While the northern portion is primarily residential areas and subdivisions, exclusive schools, industrial zones and various small and medium enterprises.

While the city is known as the shoe capital, it has been making its name for the wide array of food choices in the area called "Lilac st". Marikina is a very disciplined area of metro manila, and is an advocate of the clean and green city project.
