MarienPlatz in Munich Downtown Travel Reviews

Sep 22, 2007
Free to walk around, costs depend upon how much shopping you choose to do, and whether or not you eat or pay a visit to the Hofbrauhaus for a few beers!
This was a wonderful town square to visit. The restaurant owners didn't speak a lot of English, but they were VERY friendly people. In fact, everyone in Munich were friendly. If it weren't for good people I may have been sleeping on our motorcoach the whole time; as my credit card got stuck in the subway ticket machine...lucky for me a nice couple called the service number and within 10 minutes they were able to get my card out.

Whatever type of gifts you're looking for, you'll be sure to find at the Marienplatz. There are gift shops aplenty, and also kiosks with some of the most amazing cuckoo clocks I've ever seen! But be prepared to pay the big bucks for those!

code173 says: If nothing else, head to the city center. There are many things to see, do and shop for. Like most of the cities in Germany the city center is where most of the life is at and the majority of the resturants, so there will always be something to do. A really nice cathedral is located in the center an...
