Maricque's Bar Green Bay Reviews
A place for the quintessential Fish Fry Friday in Wisconsin Aug 13, 2009
If you are looking for a classic Wisconsin Fish Fry on Friday, this is one of the number one popular places in town.
The biggest drawbacks are that
#1 - it is VERY crowded (which means it is good and popular) so waiting can be lengthy and other than sitting at a bar stool if one is available there is no where to wait and
#2 - it is a bar first, which in Wisconsin means that you smoke a pack of cigarettes even if you are non-smoker. My clothes wreak when I leave.
However, they offer perch and walleye deep fried fish with rye bread and real butter. Portions are good sized and prized reasonably (generally under $10 per person). Fish is always fresh as I understand they used to, in the early days, go catch the fish themselves since they were also affiliated with a fish company.
Another thing is that because of the primitive serving technique (paper plates and no silverware) the waitress doesn't come back very often to refill a drink. Additionally, it is much faster to pay your check at the bar than wait for your server to cash out for you.
