Maricopa Overview

The City of Maricopa (not to be confused with Maricopa County) is a city in the Gila River Valley in the State of Arizona. With a population of nearly 49,000 (up over 4400% since 2000), Maricopa is the second most populous incorporated city in Pinal County and the eighteenth most populous city in Arizona.

Maricopa residents enjoy quality recreation and entertainment amenities, including award-winning golf courses, community events, cultural activities, and diverse shopping and dining options.

The City's Copper Sky Recreation Complex opened in March 2014. Comprised of the 52,000 square foot Copper Sky Multigenerational/Aquatics Center and 98-acre Copper Sky Regional Park, it is the destination for sports, fitness, recreation and leisure activities in Maricopa. It also hosts regional athletic tournaments and community events, including the Salsa Festival, Fishing Derby, Great American BBQ and Merry Copa.

The Ak-Chin Indian Community (which is home to members of three branches of the O'Odham Tribe), is located just outside the City limits, is home to the Harrah's Ak-Chin Casino Resort. The resort offers slot machines, bingo, live entertainment and dining.

Him-Dak Museum, located in the Ak-Chin Indian Community, features more than 700 boxes of artifacts, including pottery stone tools, projectiles, some jewelry, carved animal bones and baskets.
